Now with Athena 2 using a new sky-shadow mode this could be an interesting fight. I think everyone was worried we wouldn't get a vs Athena fight after her quick change of heart but now we at least have something with this "improved" Athena.kind of another thing I was speculating way back when Duke bore through her abdomen at the end of last volume. I'd suspect he is lurking around playing support somewhere else maybe for Gennai and Kotetsu or even Duke possibly, but hey thats where his power seems suited. Sai is the only one not seen.I know everyone will say disregard him but he is still a named mook and part of this guild unlike say that miner guild guy. Lucy and Gray vs Gennai and Kotetsu (respectively it seems) Now with the entire guild as a world alchemy battlefield we pretty much have everyone in another fight. So it was kind of obvious the whole illusory guild wasn't going to be a long term thing and as expected it was Ennies power. So kind of an expected chapter and it looks like our match ups have more or less come in. Rather, I think they'll be sent after Sabertooth to capture Sting so Duke can get all the "pure" Dragon Slayers present in Guiltina.Īwesome chapter.
I also don't think fake Fairy Tail are done. I also don't think these will be the final matchups (the Volume doesn't have enough Chapters left, 5 to be exact, for all these fights to play out fully), but rather ways to show off more of the antagonists' powers considering characters like Gennai and Kotetsu didn't even get proper fights, just got to use their powers a bit. I do think Athena II won't be as strong as the original and so Natsu will defeat her, allowing Wendy and Rogue to fight again. He was using her to borrow her power, steal Dragon Magic, and create a new Athena without emotions. He never wanted to help Athena, nor did he want that Athena. This makes Duke's plan make so much sense. Hats off to u/infernox250 for predicted this some time ago when Volume 15 ended. And then there's Athena II, such a great twist. The Signario Sisters (or at least Ennie or Luso, either the fan translations or the official translations seem to have mixed up the names) creating different worlds for these interesting and unexpected matchups is such a cool idea.
